Absolute Encoders

Both single turn and multi turn absolute encoders monitor position, speed and direction, giving the absolute position of the process equipment even if it is moved during the “power off”. A simple definition of an absolute encoder is a wheel with spokes that have specific unique names (numbers) so the system knows absolutely where it is even if the equipment is moved during a power shut down, the big advantage is there is no need to re-set to a datum when the power is restored.
